My new and ridiculous challenge.

My relationship with food is pretty bad. And by pretty bad I mean fucking horrendous. I’m adamant that sugar’s an addiction, and I am an addict in a BIG way (literally?)! I’ve tried time and time again to cut down/give it up but, as most of my friends and family will know, moderation is NOT my forte. I used to be the same with pepsi max; I could easily drink about 8 cans of it a day, but since December when I declared I’d give that up for charity for the whole year, I haven’t had a drop… and to be honest, it’s stopped being a challenge now. With that in mind, I’ve decided I want to do the same thing with all sweet food. (EVEN COOKIES OMG) If I can’t moderate my intake or give it up entirely for ME, then I’ll do it for the children that NSPCC help. This way, I KNOW I won’t go near it and it’s flipped a negative to a positive in a matter of seconds. We all win. It’s out there now and there’s no going back… fml.

So as of this Monday coming (the 15th), I won’t be eating any artificial sweet things until January 1st 2014. No cookies; no muffins; no cake; no chocolate; no biscuits; nothing. This may literally lead me to suicide but I’m pretty confident I can do this… even through Christmas. Holy shit

Guys, I can’t tell you enough how important it is to go with your gut instinct. That feeling that you can’t even explain. When you totally know you feel a certain way about something but you don’t even know why! That’s your gut. Trust it.

I just got a comment on my ‘last ever YouTube video’, and this is it: “Sadly, I have to agree. I’ve also noticed some censorship, as several comments suggesting the recklessness of her decision, and which garnered a number of likes have been removed. This is not about disrespecting her decision, but about guidance in regards to an ill-conceived decision, especially for an artist. Your logic is rather confusing Kate and the public can be fickle. You need to figure out what you want and I suggest you seek professional guidance to aid the development of your career”

I’m not in any way writing this to draw attention to the particular babe that wrote this - because the fact of it is, nearly everyone has reacted in this way. Which is totally cool and I can understand it! But what’s amazing to me is, people think that just because something hasn’t been done before - means it obviously can’t be done. Which is crap. Of course it can. Do you think that Einstein ever thought that? Imagine if he just gave up based on what he knew to be true there and then! Basing his opinion on what’s already happened! It’s crazy. You can do anything!

Do people not think I have already figured out exactly what I want in life and how I wanna go about getting there? I don’t need to seek any advice from ANYONE other than myself. I know that what I’m doing is right, and it feels insane. Just like I knew quitting University was right 5 years ago. Just like I knew moving to Bristol was right last year. Just like I know my new project is the best thing to have ever happened to me in my life so far. People struggle with my whimsical way of life! But all it is is me TRUSTING MY GUT. I’m so sure of the peace I feel when I make a decision that I know that nothing and no one will change it!

The decision to leave YouTube isn’t as black and white as ‘you have loads of viewers, you’re ridiculous to quit.’ or ‘just do originals then’ - it doesn’t come down to that! It comes down to me just knowing 150% that my decision to go onto something new and different is so right and so freeing. Change is incredible. Even if it means losing viewers and their views. My happiness could never depend on that anyway

Can’t wait for you all to hear what’s next.

My flatmate and I aren’t eating for 125 hours to raise money and awareness for One25; a Bristol based charity who support girls who are vulnerable to sex work on the streets, violence, addiction and poverty.

I’ve always wanted to find a calendar with inspiring and motivational quotes for each month, but ones that didn’t want to make me commit suicide. Quotes that really inspired ME in particular. So, one lovely night in January, I made myself one. And I LOVED doing it. So I figured why not inspire other people and make THEIR calendars?

The calendars literally take me about 3-4 hours to make, and I buy ribbon and the card and all the pens and things for it. It gets quite expensive after a while! So I’ve decided to put the price back up to £10. I’m all over the place and I’M SORRY.

Dilemma

Here’s my dilemma.

I DON’T want to carry on posting covers on YouTube, so that’s out of the equation. I don’t want to do my own original stuff anymore, so THAT’s out of the equation. My new project is nowhere near ready enough to be put out there. However! I am a stupidly creative human being and I wanna keep putting stuff out there and keep working on things. I’m thinking of starting a vlog channel. I like talking to people and there are things I REALLY like talking about. I’ve got an awesome camera that I’d love to use more.

But what would I talk about? Is there anything you’d like to see me talk about?

I realise some of you may not like my decision to stop posting covers but start something new and vlog-like but I don’t live my life for anyone else and if I’m happier working on my music elsewhere, it’d be awesome for you to respect that.

Let’s FORWARD think. I still wanna talk and interact with you guys. What do you reckon?
